Barbès’ new luxury: Introducing the first boutique hotel in a newly gentrified Parisian neighbourhood, Maison Barbès
In April 2020, the up-and-coming neighbourhood, Barbès in the 18th arrondissement in Paris will welcome its first luxury boutique hotel, Maison Barbès.

Located on Rue Bevic, Maison Barbès is perfectly situated on Rue Bervic, a short stroll from Gare Du Nord, Montmartre, Sacré Coeur and the Moulin Rouge. The hotel’s sophisticated design which embodies lush colours, bold patterns and old-fashioned glamour furnishings also pays homage to the area’s past and has been influenced by its surroundings such as the Louxor Cinema, an Art Deco masterpiece.

Once a historic site for the uprising of ‘the Commune’, the much debated and discussed Barbès (and its gentrification) is now emerging as one of Paris’ most vibrant and bohemian (or ‘BOBO’) as the French describe it, neighbourhoods.

Local and visiting sartorialists scour Vogue-approved vintage stores, explore the colourful local markets and cuisine, and dine with the fashion-pack at the local bistros and the cultural melting-pot that Barbès has become known for.

When the two entrepreneurs behind the hotel, Gaetan Chebrou and Jonathan Anguelov, saw the potential in this quickly developing area, they also wanted to ensure the hotel’s design and philosophy was strongly connected to the rich history, while embracing the vibrant culture that exists today.

The hotel exudes the same classic elegance and sophistication that customers might expect from a Palace, however its design takes its cues from the local surroundings.

The hotel has sourced some of its interiors from the local flea market and will offer produce from the local food markets and dining options from local suppliers.

Maison Barbès launches October,  2020 with 29 luxury rooms.
